Our clients, a professional couple with young children, purchased this house and site for its potential. It has a large back yard with views of green-space and the Botany Bay industrial skyline to the south, which when lit by the fading afternoon light is quite spectacular. The post WWII bungalow is solid and worth retaining, yet cramped for a growing family. Our brief was to add living spaces to the house without destroying its modest charm; to capture the views to the south, and somehow bring winter sun in from the north, whilst creating a privacy and shade to the currently exposed backyard.
