Matraville Youth & Cultural Hall Shortlisted in 2025 NSW Architecture Awards
Our Matraville Youth and Cultural Hall has been shortlisted in the Australian Institute of Architects 2025 NSW Architecture Awards in the Sustainable Architecture category.

Two projects shortlisted in 2025 Houses Awards
We’re thrilled to have not one but two houses shortlisted in the 2025 Houses Awards in the House Alteration and Addition over 200m2 category.

Celebrating International Women’s Day
In celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) we are highlighting the accomplishments, character and strengths of the women in our office.
Laurel, our Practice Manager, has an incredible attention to detail and care for the wellbeing of others – she is the reason our studio runs smoothly and is positive no matter the task at hand!
Gab, our Associate Director, is instrumental in all aspects of life at SCA. From business development, management, project direction and a continual pursuit for design excellence; Gab does it all.
Charly, an Associate at SCA, is a ray of sunshine in the office. She motivates and inspires us; she is a strong leader, a generous teacher and infectiously optimistic.
Alexandra, Senior Project Architect, is a supportive and rigorous leader. She is looked up to as a strong, talented person who readily resolves challenges.
Christine, Project Architect, brings a blend of attention to detail, quirk and creative flair to everything she does. Everyone wants her on board, her construction documentation is both efficient and thorough.
Paige, Project Architect, is an energetic, fun, open collaborator. She has a strong and dedicated work ethic which is evident in the high quality of her residential and public projects.
Héléna, Project Lead, brings clarity and precision to every project she works on. On top of that, her confidence, optimism, and collaborative spirit make her a pleasure to work with.
Georgia, a Graduate, is dedicated and diligent. Her positive attitude and willingness to learn is invaluable and she is an asset across residential and public projects.
Steph , a Graduate, is a joy to be around. Generous with her time and technical expertise, her high standards and supportive, open-minded approach lift everyone around her.
Illiana, an Architectural Assistant, is valued as a positive, enthusiastic and kind person. We appreciate her contributions on our public and residential projects, and to our website and marketing.

World Design Awards 2025 – Gold for BARC
We are proud to share with you that Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) has received both a GOV Design Award 2025 and a Gold accolade in the World Design Awards 2025 in the Architecture – Public Utility category!
BARC provides state of the art facilities which challenge the public perception of shelters. It is the culmination of a decade of our research and design development.

Matraville Youth & Community Hall in Australian Design Review
A grove of mature native trees determined the plan of a new community hall for Randwick Council in Sydney’s eastern suburbs by Sam Crawford Architects.
“The building sits comfortably in the existing landscape, enveloped by the stunning trees, and [is] a beacon at night when lit from within,” project architect Benjamin Chan says.

Welcome Georgia & Kevin!
We are very happy to welcome graduates Georgia Browning & Kevin Luu to the Sam Crawford Architects team.
Georgia graduated with a Masters of Architecture at Aarhus Arkitektskolen Denmark, which left her full of inspiration for adaptive reuse projects, building less, but designing better.
Kevin received his Master of Architecture from the University of Melbourne. He is moved by the sensitivities of architecture and its potential to bring meaningful change for our world. His skill in hand drawing has nurtured a sharp observational eye for detailing.

BARC presented live at World Architecture Festival in Singapore

On Wednesday 6 November at 3:30-3:50pm Singapore local time Sam Crawford and Gabrielle Pelletier will be presenting our Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) at the World Architecture Festival in Singapore. Read more here >
The 450 international finalists present their projects live at the festival to a panel of esteemed judges and WAF delegates. Each finalist will present their project for 10 minutes to a panel of three judges, followed by 8 minutes Q&A from the jury.
Our category “Completed Buildings – Civic & Community” also includes fjcstudio – Liverpool Civic Place; Wardle – Bendigo Law Courts; and Bates Smart – Embassy of Australia, Washington D.C. Wishing them all the best too!
