A typically dark and run-down, but rather spacious Victorian terrace house was gutted and remade as a light filled, contemporary home, on a relatively modest budget. Each of the existing internal spaces was reworked.

The new rear boundary to boundary width family room is now lit by a continuous perimeter skylight, which both sends light deep into the interior of the terrace, and, by drenching each of the family room walls in light, dramatically expands one’s sense of space within the otherwise typical contemporary rear room opening via bi-fold doors to a private courtyard.

The existing second bedroom on the first floor was converted into ensuite bathrooms for the existing front bedroom and new rear bedroom, which enjoys district views from a sun drenched bay window seat. The attic was converted to a third bedroom with ensuite bathroom enjoying dual aspects east and west via new double dormer windows.
