Elevated quality and functionality provide a premier facility for club sport

Northern Suburbs Football Association Sports Pavilion

ONGOING / Turramurra, NSW

The design for a new sports pavilion elevates quality and functionality, providing a premier facility for club sport and a destination for the local community, whilst celebrating the proud history of the local sports association.

The new facilities act as a gateway to the sports fields. They include a covered first floor grandstand and a café with outdoor seating, change rooms, offices, treatment rooms, accessible viewing area and media facilities.

A unifying materiality references the natural bush setting and the football association’s history through the use of colour and natural textures.

The design sees optimum sight lines for spectators; acoustic enhancements via serrated and insulated façade screening; natural ventilation and light into change rooms and community room spaces, the creation of double height spaces throughout, plus additional privacy for change rooms; and a roof canopy harmonised with the façade treatment.
