Since founding SCA in 1999, Sam has built a thriving practice with a reputation for client-focused design excellence.

His work has been widely published, nationally and internationally, and has been the recipient of numerous local, state and national architecture awards.

Sam’s design integrity ensures that the practice delivers environmentally and socially responsible architecture with outstanding outcomes for their clients and the communities they serve. The quality and range of projects delivered by SCA demonstrate his ability to work effectively with private clients and corporations, local and state governments, and public authorities.

Sam brings his sensibility and experience to the design of every project delivered by the practice.

He is passionate about shaping cities through impactful design. Alongside the recognition for his built work, he is highly regarded for his contribution to the architectural profession and discourse. He has lectured and been a guest design critic at university architecture faculties, and spoken at architectural forums, around Australia. He has served as jury chair for AIA Awards, and co-creative-director of the 2014 AIA National Conference, co-chaired the AIA Medium Practice Forum and been a member of the Government Architect NSW State Design Review Panel.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA), an examiner for the Board of Architects NSW, a member of the Northern Sydney Region of Councils Design Excellence Review Panel, and chair of the AIA (NSW Chapter) Awards Working Group.

Sam relaxes distilling gin, tending to his chickens in their custom-designed coop, and carving spoons from beautiful Australian timber.
