Max Ruddock Reserve Amenities

ONGOING / Winston Hills, NSW

Sitting in harmony with the neighbourhood, a sports amenities building is a community hub supporting local residents.

A new sports amenities building follows the fall of the land to provide a roof terrace with viewing platform at street level, and at field level, change rooms, toilets, storage, office and kiosk. The accessible connections and upgraded amenities are an important asset for the community, now and in the future.

Renewing Sports Amenities for the Community

The project delivers modern facilities that support recreation and local use.

The facilities replace ageing sports amenities and are a key component of a broader upgrade to the reserve.

On the ground floor, male and female and accessible toilets and change rooms are an improved interface to the adjacent playground and sports fields. Storage capacity is maximised and an undercover seating area caters for spectators and connects to a new kiosk.

A second storey, lightweight ‘multi-use pavilion’ provides viewing platforms with covered bench seating, and minimises the visual impact on nearby homes. An integrated, accessible ramped pathway provides a connection from the carpark to the building and sports field.

Material selections are complementary to the surroundings. The passive design (solar and ventilation) and durable, robust, and easy to maintain form and materiality, are designed for frequent use.

The contemporary amenities sit in harmony with the neighbourhood and generate a community hub that attracts and supports local residents.
